Left hook earns KSU's Colon a suspension

Out in the Golden State Wednesday night, there was nothing Golden about K-State's performance against California. Bob Huggins and company took one on the chin, losing by a cool thirty, 48-to-78. In addition to another poor shooting night, just 35 percent from the floor, the Cats added insult to injury when freshman center Luis Colon threw a left hook, striking the back of Taylor Harrison at the 6:39 mark of the second half.
Due to NCAA rule, Colon was automatically ejected from the game and also suspended from the team's next game at Colorado State. In addition, Colon faces suspension for the remainder of the season if he is involved in another fighting incident.
Head coach Bob Huggins addressed the situation in a statement Thursday, saying, "Luis' actions last night are inexcusable and will not be tolerated. This is a tough game and you have to be mature and maintain your emotions. Luis understands that he made a mistake and there are consequences for his actions. This cannot happen ever again."
"This is an embarrassing situation and I want to extend our sincere apology to the University of California men's basketball program and head coach Ben Braun," KSU Head Coach Bob Huggins said.
That thirty point loss, by the way, is the program's worst defeat in nearly three years. The Cats are now 4-2 on season, and next play Saturday afternoon at Colorado State.
