Local mayors participate in "March for Meals" campaign

Topeka Mayor Bill Bunten left his mayoral duties for a very special job Wednesday morning.

"Hi Mrs. Fagan, how are you?"

That was Mayor Bunten delivering one of several meals to the elderly Wednesday.

This is part of Meals on Wheels' "Mayors for Meals Day", which is part the national "March for Meals" campaign.

It helps increase public awareness and recruit new volunteers.

Bunten says he occasionally helps out with Meals on Wheels, and is always very happy to do so.

Mayor Bunten wasn't the only mayor helping out Wednesday.

Mayor Miller of Oskaloosa, Mayor Zieg of Valley Falls and Mayor Smith of Silver Lake also helped deliver meals to the elderly Wednesday.
