Children playing with matches ignite home in East Topeka

Firefighters responded to a house fire this morning shortly after 10 a.m.
A fire broke out at 700 SE Brookside Drive. The residents were at home, but were able to make it out safely.
Firefighters told 49 News the fire was contained to the second story.
"They made a great stop here," said Topeka Fire Department Shift Commander George Rocha. "We had as small amount of damage considering the amount of fire we had."
A police officer told 49 News children playing with matches started the home on fire.
Red Cross is assisting the family.
This is the second time in two days that children playing with fire had Topeka fire crews responding. Read about that fire here.
The city of Topeka is in the process of repairing three of its trucks with ladders, are aerial trucks, but with this fire it was not an issue, a firefighter said. Read more on the broken trucks here.
