Printable tickets receive mixed reactions

Manhattan This football season, students are going to have to stop by the printer before heading to the game.
That’s because this year's season tickets for K-State students are now being sent through e-mail.
Students used to pick up a packet of all their tickets at Bramlage Coliseum.
Now, once the tickets have been paid for, an e-mail is sent out with printable tickets attached.
Some students find this more convenient.
"You just sit at home, print it off the internet, and you’re done," student Matthew Detriexhe said.
But not everyone is a fan.
"Honestly, I just don’t understand it," student Erin Jackson said.
So why did K-State decide to change things?
The K-State assistant ticket manager says it’s for better security.
The new tickets contain the students' account number and can automatically be traced back to the student.
So instead of having to wait until Monday to trace the account of stolen tickets, staff can do it at the stadium.
"Really? I didn’t know that. That makes it even better with the security issue too. It makes it a little more your ticket. You can’t really necessarily say that you lost one," Detriexhe said.
But students have other worries.
"If you don’t have tickets, like you didn’t buy the season tickets yourself, and you chose to buy tickets from someone else like an outside source, they could just make an extra copy and you don’t know if it actually works or not," Jackson said.
The assistant ticket manager said they did have a couple of students try this at the first home game.
But since the account number is on the ticket, it was traced back to the student and they can be charged with fraud.
People buying single home game tickets can also get the printable version.
K-State is hoping to expand the new system to all stadium tickets, but it may take a couple of years.
